Time Difference

Six hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT, and one hour difference from Singapore and 30 minutes from Thailand.
Working Time
Government offices are open from 9:30 to 4:30 except on weekend. Business Firms work from 9:00 to 5:30 except on Sunday. Banks’ hours are from 9:30 to 2:00.
 

Language

Myanmar is the national language. English is understood to some extent in metropolis.


Currency

The unit of Myanmar currency is kyat, divided into 100 Pyas, and bills are issued in 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 and 10,000 denominations. High inflation, however, made the disappearance of the pyas, and even weaker denominations from 1 kyat to 100 kyats are not common in use, such as food, car rent and shopping.


How to get to Myanmar

The connecting airlines are Myanmar Airways International (MAI), Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Phuket Airline, Silk Air, Air China, Biman Airlines, Indian Airlines, Eva Air, Mandarin Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Druk Air, Lauda Air, Quatar Air and so on.


Notice to Tourists

1. Tourist visa issued with eVisa system will be launched at 06:00 on 1st September 2014.
2. Regarding the information of e-Visa is on website www.evisa.moip.gov.mm and the information of restricted area on www.mip.gov.mm.
3. You can apply as following procedures:
(a) Your passport validity must have at least (6) months.
(b) You have to present one color photo (4 cm X 6 cm) taking during (3) months and return ticket.
(c) Length of stay is (28) days from the date of arrival in Myanmar.
(d) You can pay application fee, US$ 50 by using Visa, Master, Credit/ Debit.(if you apply on our website, we will charge a extra service fee (US$ 50) for applying evisa for you)
(e) You will not refund whether eVisa is granted or not.
(f) We will reply the information if we receive application or not within (1) hours.
(g) The processing time is maximum (5) working days for granting eVisa or not.
(h) The validity of eVisa approval letter is (3) months from the issued date. If it is expired, entry will be denied.

4. If the applicant mentioned children under (7) years old who is accompany with him, you have to put the name of that child, date of birth in the minor block of the application form.
5. The applicant should complete individual personal data whether passenger is FIT or package tour.
6. Duration of visa validity you can only use single entry. Do not allow to enter again.
7. For initial, passengers with eVisa are only permitted to enter at Yangon International Airport. We will announce the extended plan on time.
8. If the decision is not allowed to entry, you may return by the same flight.
9. Ordinary passport holders from the following countries are giving visa exemption for 14 days-
(a) Laos
(b) Vietnam
(c) Philippines
(d) Cambodia
(e) Indonesia

10. Citizens of 43 countries listed below are eligible for applying e-Visa. these citizens of these countries can either apply Myanmar e-visa or apply Visa on arrival.

All visitors must be in possession of valid passports and the necessary visas. There are two kinds of visas applicable to tourists: (1) Package tour visas and (2) FIT visas. These tourist visas are valid for 28 days with an option for extension. It can be applied to Myanmar Embassy or Consulate abroad. Visas on arrival can also be arranged prior to your arrival by your travel agent but only for package tours.

Myanmar national holidays include: Jan 4 (Independence day), Feb 12 (Union Day ), Mar 02 (Peasants’ Day ), Mar 13 (Full moon Day of Tabaung ), Mar 27 (Armed Forces Day ), April 13-17 (Water Festival & Myanmar New Year), May 1 (May Day), May 11 (Full moon Day of Kason), Jul 9 (Full moon Day of Waso/ Beginning of Buddhist Lent), July 19 (Martyrs’ Day), Oct 6 (Thadingyut Festival of Lights/ End of Buddhist Lent), Nov 4 (Tazaungmon Festival of Lights), Nov 14 (National Day) and December 19( Kayin New Year), Dec 25 (Christmas Day).


How to Apply Myanmar visa (Walk In)

Fill up the secure online application form
Applicant is required to enter all the necessary information in the application.
Confirm and pay the processing fee
Applicant needs to recheck all the information is correct before proceed to the next step. Make the payment with Credit Card (only accept visa or master card) . Acknowledgement email with application code will be sent to applicants.
Get approval letter within 5 to 10 days

Within 5 to 10 days, applicants will get visa approval letter via email. Print out the letter with barcode and bring along with passport, then show them to Immigration officer at Myanmar arrival checkpoints.

Get visa stamped at arrival checkpoints

Upon arrival to Myanmar arrival checkpoints, present visa approval letter and passport to the Immigration officer to get passport stamped.
How to extend Myanmar visa

Visa Extension (2 Weeks extension only) can be done as follows:

A. Fill in th Extension form

B. If you are sure you will be need Visa Extension before you arrive, you can give us the form, your original passport and 2 photos and USD 50 for 2 weeks extension.

C. If you are not sure, print out this form and call us at 204020 when you are in Yangon. We will collect Recommendation for your hotel the form, passport, 2 photos and 50 USD for 2 weeks extension.

D. For Visa 1st one must obtain a letter of endorsement from Ministry of Hotel & Tourism and then submit to Ministry of Immigration. It will take at least 2 days and max 5 days to get Tourist Visa extended.


Overstay Fines

The overstay fines in Myanmar is 3 USD per day per person.


Border Entry

Tourists with border passes are allowed to enter through check points at Muse, Nam-Khan, Kyu-gok, lwe-je and kun-lone from Yunan Province of China and Tachileik, Myawaddy, Three-Pagoda pass and Kawthaung from Thailand.


Customs

All foreign currency (in excess of US$ 2000), jewelry, cameras, radios, cassette player, calculators, etc have to be declared at the international airport of Yangon or that of Mandalay on arrival and keep a copy of the customs declaration form to be presented on departure. Antiques and archaeologically valuable items are not allowed to be taken out. Two bottles of liquor, two cartons of cigarettes, 100 cigars and ½ liter of perfume for personal use are allowed duty free. Your luggage is subject to inspection with X-ray by the customs authorities before departure.
